Assistant Compliance Manager

The Role

The Role
  • Maintain supplier database for LSG
  • Drive factory social compliance performance through auditing, training and reporting based on local legal obligations, Lidl’s policies and requirements in terms of Labor Rights, Labor Protections, Social Compliance, OHS and Environmental Sustainability
  • Communicate and collaborate with other Lidl’s legal entities as necessary on global strategies and initiatives for compliance and sustainability
  • Liaise with Lidl’s Sourcing and Merchandizing teams, keep them up-to-date with Supply chain compliance status, flag critical issues immediately
  • Schedule and review third party audit/ reports for assigned supply chain factories
  • Schedule the factory visits and workshops for any assigned teammates and agents.
  • Arrange shadow audit on approved third party audit firms to ensure consistent application of standards and procedures
  • Keep abreast of new laws and regulations and relevant initiatives for production countries and communicate these to the Compliance Managers
  • Build relationships and actively engage with Better Work/ILO, local NGOs, industry associations, consultants and brand collaboration initiatives
  • Identify training needs for self-development and for building capacity with compliance agents and supply chain factories
  • Support compliance training materials development for internal and external use
  • Manage the LSG monthly report to leadership team

Your Profile

Your Profile
  • Hold a Bachelor Degree
  • Have minimum 4 years’ experience in the field of social compliance and/or sustainability (SA 8000, WRAP lead auditor certified is essential)
  • Have experience in industrial manufacturing and production knowledge
  • Experience in managing labor issues, unions and Industrial Relations (IR)
  • Have engineering background with Chemicals / Fire / Electric is a plus
  • Have extensive experience in handling factory issues such as: factory strikes, conflict resolutions, OHS and HSE
  • Result oriented and self-motivation are preferable
  • Organization, planning and communication skills are essential
  • High degree of work ethics and integrity
  • Have good problem solving, strategic thinking and planning capabilities
  • Good command of English is a must;  additional language capability is a plus
  • Have good PC knowledge (MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint)
  • Travel frequently
